“I am not that kind of actor who can play a 60-year-old man at 28 years of age” – Shashank Vyas on quitting ‘Balika Vadhu’

Apart from veteran actress Surekha Sikri aka Dadisa, Shashank Vyas is the only actor who opted to continue his journey in ‘Balika Vadhu’ when all the members of the old cast chose to leave for greener pastures.
However, Shashank, who has come a long way from playing a rich, pampered heir of a reputed and traditional Rajasthani family to being a powerful MLA and a loving as well as mature man, is now in a mood to bring his long journey to end. He is currently serving his notice period.
The 28-year-old actor, who currently plays the father of teenaged children in the show, wants to experiment with different genres now, and doesn’t want to be typecast.
“I don’t want to play a father on-screen for a while. I want to play characters of my age. I wanted to experiment and hence, I have experimented with this role (in Balika Vadhu). So now, I will try to focus more on roles in which I know I will be comfortable,” says Shashank.
And he is very much vocal about playing his own age now. “I am not that kind of actor who can play a 60-year-old man at 28 years of age. I feel that so early on in my career, I should try other roles,” he adds.
Like most actors, Shashank wishes to be picky about his roles, rather than taking up whatever comes his way. Throwing light on his future plans, he says “After doing this show, I have to be a little choosy about roles that I pick. I cannot pick random work, and have to find something that I can relate to, something that feels real.”
